Passing it on…

There are a few things I have been wanting to blog about but seem to forget or never had time, so I thought I need to get caught up! One thing I wanted to write about was the extended teaching that happened after our Grain Aid program stopped when the new harvest came in the end of October.

All through the proceeding months we had been teaching the program participants (the fathers of the families) about health care topics such as diarrhoea and dehydration, malaria, mosquito net use and care, intestinal worms, first aid and common illness prevention. We had hoped that the men would go and share this knowledge with their families, but you just never know.

So we decided to train a group of 4 locals (2 men and 2 women) to take a condensed version of this teaching and go visit each one of the 60 families to present it to the rest of the family, especially the mothers who would benefit the most from the health teaching!

So here are some pictures of the families (taken by our teachers) as they went out and taught the community. Hope it helps you to put faces to stories of all the families who were helped through your generosity and support in our Grain Aid program. Our total was over 1500 people!
