Meat Delivery!

And you wonder why I have become more of a vegetarian here. And this is not the exception to the rule, this is the every day occurrence. I see meat packed in the trunks of taxis, laying on the side of the road and crammed into trucks like this almost every day...

Oh my!

In our host country, selling fish from a trunk is common. The car wil come into the village and drive around, telling of his sales through a bullhorn. In our village, it echoes and I can hear him from every direction. I've not bought any fish here at all, much less from a trunk.

Once a man came to my gate and tried to sell me some fresh goat meat, which, he said, was supposed to be extremely healthy for growing children (he had seen mine swinging from the trees).

Still, I've never seen anything like your pictures. They are both icky and amazing at the same time.

No, in my "over there" country, they tend to bring in the animals alive and just deal with it all in one place. Got to step over the skin to buy the meat, but at least they kill one or two at a time!

Recall seeing the meat slaughtered on the sidewalk with the flies and blood running everywhere - in Nicaragua - I lived on rice for 14 days... thanks for the memories :). heather
