Maybe we're called to do less than fix.
Sometimes the most profound thing we can do is love a person,
even if we can't fix everything.
When Jesus spoke of the poor, He spoke in terms I understand:
Offering water to the thirsty,
Feeding the poor,
Clothing the naked.
He didn't use fixing terms.

I recently sent this email to my close friends and colleagues.

My dear friend, Chantelle, is a role model for me. Chantelle & Paul are devout Christians, modelling their daily lives after the life of Jesus. Chantelle and my son, Joseph were born only weeks apart and we became fast friends as my back-door neighbour.

Little did I know the impact the has and the footprint she has left on my life.
Chantelle and I endlessly talk about raising our children, discipline, nutrition. Mother things
Chantelle selflessly rescued me on occasion during the day and late into the evening, when I felt that my world closed down around me with a 13 month old and a newborn baby crying.
Chantelle obtained her masters degree while I nursed my daughter.
Chantelle oversaw the safety of the entire U of C Campus, becoming friends and family with the likes of the Fire Chief !
Chantelle and Paul petitioned for the adoption of an 11 month old baby girl who was born to parents with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome and was neglected from birth. Arielle suffers with attachment issues which have been a struggle however, she is learning to love and to trust her new family.
Chantelle recently moved her family to Niger, Africa through mission work to assist this country in learning to survive. They selflessly left their material lives for four years... to help others.
She posted this thought today and it really struck home for me. Chantelle, you have a lot to teach us all.
